PIDCOP-CV 2025 RTEX4PRINT
Research into a new rtex4print upcycling process
The Instituto Valenciano de Competitividad Empresarial (IVACE) has awarded us a grant of 89.690,54 €, co-financed by the European Union at a rate of 60% through the Programa Operativo FEDER de la Comunitat Valenciana, for the project entitled “RESEARCH INTO A NEW RTEX4PRINT UPCYCLING PROCESS”, with reference number IMIDCA/2025/74, submitted under the PROYECTOS DE I+D EN COOPERACIÓN (PIDCOP-CV) programme.
The objective of this project was to investigate the transformation of 100% cotton textile waste into new recycled raw materials by developing a circular process capable of producing recycled yarns, fabrics, and pigments from the selvedge waste generated during the dyeing processes of ESTAMPADOS PRATO. The research was aimed at maximizing fibre recovery and reducing the consumption of virgin raw materials.
ONDYTEC 2018, S.L. investigated the optimization of the spinning, weaving, and milling processes for recycled fibres, adapting the processing parameters to the characteristics of the new secondary raw materials. In addition, the company carried out the necessary research to obtain recycled pigments with suitable properties for use in textile printing processes.
During the project, research was also conducted on fibre separation and classification processes, the production of recycled yarns for home textile applications, and the valorisation of short fibres through their transformation into recycled pigments. These activities have contributed to advancing a circular economy model based on the reuse of textile waste and the reduction of the environmental footprint of the textile sector.
The research results established the technical foundations for incorporating high-value recycled raw materials into the production chain, promoting the development of more sustainable textile products and strengthening the company’s technological competitiveness through innovative recycling and waste valorisation solutions.
