PIDCOP-CV 2020 LUPUS PROTEX

R&D of a cosmetotextile based on a crosslinked phenolic polymer for sun protection against lupus

The Valencian Institute for Business Competitiveness (IVACE) has granted us funding of €39,237.00, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) at a rate of 50% through the ERDF Operational Programme of the Valencian Community 2014–2020, for the project entitled “R&D OF A COSMETOTEXTILE BASED ON A CROSSLINKED PHENOLIC POLYMER FOR SUN PROTECTION AGAINST LUPUS”, with reference number IMIDCA/2020/10, submitted under the PIDCOP-CV programme. This project, promoted by INNOVATEC SENSORIZACIÓN Y COMUNICACIÓN SL and ONDYTEC 2018 SL, aimed to develop a textile finish based on the use of plant-derived crosslinked phenolic polymers, enabling enhanced protection against solar radiation, achieving Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) values above 40+.These results were achieved through dyeing finishes using the exhaust method, as well as spray finishing processes applied to cotton fabrics and polyester/cotton blends, employing different phenolic-based dyes. For both companies, this project has represented a significant business opportunity by enabling the development of new products, expanding our market scope, and enhancing our technological capabilities in the field of natural products applied to the medical-textile sector, while contributing to the reduction of the environmental impact of textiles.Furthermore, this product offers strong potential for industrial exploitation, addressing global competitiveness, improving commercial positioning, and contributing to the creation of high-quality employment in both companies. From the perspective of ONDYTEC 2018 SL, the results obtained with this high value-added product, together with its differentiation within the current market offering, enable us to expand our portfolio of products and services.
