CREATEC–CV 2020 CRECI-FUN
Functionalized Recycled Compounds, “CRECI-FUN”
ONDyTEC 2018 has carried out the project entitled FUNCTIONALIZED RECYCLED COMPOUNDS, “CRECI-FUN”, whose objective was the development of functional finishing formulations mainly based on recycled Polyvinyl Butyral (rPVB) and other functional additives, intended for multiple applications within the textile sector.
Specifically, the project focused on the development of four new finishing products: flame-retardant, UV-protective, stain-resistant, and anti-slip finishes, all sharing a common base of rPVB acting as a binder. To achieve this, a selection of functional agents was carried out to obtain the appropriate formulations, and the optimal processes and parameters for the deposition of each finish onto textile substrates were defined.
Therefore, this project demonstrated the potential of a recycled and environmentally beneficial material such as rPVB, enabling the replacement of conventional synthetic binders derived from petrochemical resources and commonly used in the textile industry.
Thanks to the results obtained, ONDYTEC 2018 has successfully positioned itself in this sector with a competitive recycled compound, suitable for use in home textiles, industrial textiles, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
This project, entitled FUNCTIONALIZED RECYCLED COMPOUNDS, “CRECI-FUN”, with reference number IMBCBTA/2020/35, was submitted under the Technology-Based Companies Creation Programme (CREATEC-CV) and has received financial support from the Valencian Institute for Business Competitiveness (IVACE) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), with a grant of €42,761.60.
