ONDyTEC 2018 SL, together with ÁREA DE TINTURA SL and JUAN POVEDA SL, has carried out a project funded by the Valencian Innovation Agency (AVI) under the initiative “Consolidation of the Business Value Chain”. The objective of this project was the development of a dyeing process using natural pigments and recycled PVB as a binder, applied to recycled and organic yarns and woven fabrics. The final objective was to obtain various commercial products made from sustainable materials, dyed using the process developed within this project, such as canvas sneakers, ballet flats, bags, outerwear garments, scarves, and neck warmers.
At a scientific level, this project has achieved significant progress in textile coloration by utilizing natural products (natural pigments) and recycled materials (rPVB: recycled polyvinyl butyral, primarily sourced from automotive windshield recycling) to achieve high-quality sustainable dyeing at an industrial scale. Furthermore, the project successfully overcame the challenges associated with applying the developed medium to organic and recycled textiles, which inherently present greater processing difficulties due to their higher variability and irregularity.
Finally, the project was successfully completed, resulting in the development of a new dyeing process based on natural pigments and recycled PVB applied to yarns and woven fabrics.
